Instead of a real tree I opted for these guys this year. Less space, less waste. They're actually five times as big as they look but only the tips show because they got buried in the snow.

very sweet, and reusable. would also lend themselves to a hanging mobile perhaps over a table and under a ceiling adjustable height light.
